Keep Your Car on the Road by Avoiding These Maintenance Mistakes

March 1, 2012

Your local Marietta Auto Service center wants to talk about these few maintenance mistakes that you should avoid to keep your car running smoothly. It is important to keep up with car maintenance regularly. However, it’s also important to realize that some of the car service tips you’re getting maybe doing more harm than good. Have a quality trained auto service mechanic do all of your regular vehicle maintenance to ensure that you’re not making any of these mistakes.

  • Keeping your tires properly inflated is one of the most common maintenance
mistakes. On the outer wall of your tires you are given a number of pounds per square inch (PSI) that should be in your tire. Checking often to make sure your tires are at that level of PSI could save you tons on gas and even prevent accidents.
  • Change your oil in accordance to your maintenance manual. If your manual says to change your oil every 3,000 or 7,000 miles make sure that is when it’s done. Each model’s engine is different. There are serious consequences to not changing your oil regularly.
  • Myth: You must warm up your car before driving. This is a common myth that once applied to vehicles long ago. With newer model cars all you’re doing is wasting gas. It’s not necessary.
  • Keep a Check on your brake fluid, or any other fluids helping your vehicle work properly. If you start to feel like the brakes, or power steering aren’t functioning as they should it’s best to take your vehicle to a certified auto mechanic straight away. You could be having problems with your fluid lines, or no fluid, and this can cause a disastrous accident down the road.

These are small tasks that could lead to huge problems if not corrected. Make sure you get your vehicle serviced often, and on time. Alan Cox Automotive, your local Marietta auto service center, has highly trained technicians that will make sure your car runs at its best.
